Ears correction, also known as Pinnaplasty or also Otoplasty aims at re-sizing the ears, reshaping the cartilage of the ears and holding the ears back. More and more people who suffer from protruding or too large ears have many complexes about their ears and decide to undergo the surgery in order to feel more confident. The procedure itself can be performed under local or general anaesthetic, it only depends on the extesiveness of the procedure and the requirements. However, many surgeons choose local anaesthetic to have a contact with the patient. The procedure takes around 2 hours. The incision is performed along the crease line, just behind ears in order to remove the excess cartilage which is the main reason of protruding ears. Then, the ears are pinned back along the fold to their new position. The stitches are inserted and the patient’s head is wrapped with a special dressing to support the cartilage in its new place. Patients are very satisfied with the effects, as ears do not protrude anymore and lie closer to head.
